BIOGRAPHY

STRENGTH, COMPASSION, AND JUSTICE

Coming from a mother who served this county for 35 years as a Cabell County Schools educator and a father who worked his way up from welder to supervisor for CSX, Sherrone is no stranger to hard work and dedication. Ms. Hornbuckle graduated from Huntington High School in 2001 and later attended the University of Richmond to obtain her bachelors degree in Leadership Studies in 2005. Towards the end of her educational journey, she received her Juris Doctorate from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2009.

Sherrone began her career as a law clerk for Attorney, William L. Redd. For several years, she worked in civil law for Legal Aid of West Virginia serving some of West Virginia’s most vulnerable populations. Ranging her aide from domestic violence victims to men and women who served this country. As the first Black Female Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Ms. Hornbuckle handled domestic violence cases and juveniles.

Currently, Sherrone serves as the first in-house General Legal Counsel for Cabell County Schools, where she continues to foster her passion for Cabell Counties’ youth. Her focus on advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic violence continues through her work with Branches Domestic Violence Shelter. Sherrone also positively impacts her community and its members by serving on the Board of Directors for Valley Health and the Education Alliance.

 Even after holding a variety of roles and titles throughout her career, the first thing her friends and family will tell you is that she will never forget where she came from or who she has been fighting for. Committed to change in our world, Sherrone D. Hornbuckle, Esq. has set her standards high, and will not stop fighting until a proper balance has been reached.

Sherrone is supported by her loving husband, Kevin Monroe Myers, Sr., her amazing son, Jolon Adams, and is a bonus mom to two outstanding children, Kevin Monroe Myers, Jr. and Ramya Myers.  She is also a member of the Living Sanctuary Church where Bishop Gary L. Edwards presides as pastor and nurtures Sherrone’s spiritual health and growth.
